Malcolm in the Middle was not like how I remembered it.
To be fair, I barely remember full episodes of Malcom In The Middle. It’s interesting how your memory decides to create its own fan edits from your favourite scenes but I do not remember the show having crude humour. I think I may have mistaken it for a Disney show(Even Stevens?) or maybe I'm just watching it from a different perspective now.
When my 11yo kid pointed at it on Disney+ and said “Can we watch that?”, I thought, why not. A wholesome show about kids his age.
Not even 10 minutes into episode one, we’ve already seen both parents half-naked, and he’s learned the word homoerotic from Francis. Perhaps that’s also how I learned that word in 2001.
Was Malcolm in the Middle just Shameless Lite?
Either way, it was fun watching it as a family. Who knew mild crudeness can be endearing.
