Date Night: Skipped a rave to find somewhere with seating
Our standing date nights are always on Saturdays. Sometimes we have a destination in mind, but most of the time, we just roll the dice and see what hits our mood that night. The advantage of living near Kuala Lumpur is that you can decide to go out at 10pm and still have things to do. Or eat.
There was a rave street party happening in the middle of the city. A government-sponsored one at that. Hello, tourism. We decided not to go despite it being our usual areas and I am slightly regretting it because apparently it was a micro Coachella event.
Instead, we took the slightly calmer route to another part of KL. The goal is simple 1) Find some food 2) Take some pics 3) Be surprised
My husband’s self-proclaimed midlife crisis is a sudden interest in street photography and I honestly love it because the photos are always great. It also gives both of us an excuse to just walk around the city and have fun. He has a higher end camera set up but I'm just a simple girl, so I've been carrying around a Kodak digital point and shoot like it's 2006.

In the 70s, Rex KL used to be a movie theater, but it has since been turned into an arts and cultural hub. We hadn’t been inside in a while, so we were completely unaware of the variety of food options and the pretty good bar on the ground floor. The fish and chips at Battered was top tier. 10/10 would eat there again.
There was a live band performing that night and it was a new one I haven't heard of before called Blue Nanyoung, they play mostly Indie Pop and that means they are now in my playlist.
We did drive around after to just take a peek at the free rave party but we noped out of that at the crowd. Maybe if we were 10 years younger, we would have marched towards it but nah. A chill date night was good enough (Maybe next time!)
